ESIM FAQS

SET-UP AND ACTIVATE YOUR SMARTPHONE USING ESIM

  • An eSIM is a digital SIM that is downloaded into your device by the UScellular network. Once it has been downloaded and activated, it allows your device to connect to the UScellular network just like a traditional plastic SIM card.
  • eSims are fast, simple and you can activate your device without waiting for a physical SIM card. Plus, it's more secure and never stores any of your personal information. As there is no tiny SIM card to insert in your device, it's also much easier to use an eSIM. And you won't lose it, so no lost SIM cards to replace. The use of eSIM is environmentally friendly as it eliminates plastic SIM card waste.
  • We make it simple. To activate your UScellular plan with an eSIM on your smartphone, you'll need:
    • A data connection (Wi-Fi or a cellular connection).
    • A UScellular eSIM profile reserved for your device.
Go to our Device Activation page and follow the instructions.
Note: iPhone 14 models that are eSIM only can activate without Wi-Fi.
  • Take your pick. You can get a UScellular eSIM profile by:
    • Subscribing to UScellular service at uscellular.com/byod.

    • Visiting a UScellular store to subscribe to a new UScellular service plan.

    • Transferring your existing UScellular plan from one iPhone to another iPhone.

  • Please follow the steps outlined in the Apple support article "About eSIM on iPhone".
Note: Your old iPhone and your new iPhone must both be eSIM-capable, but your current UScellular plan can be active on the previous iPhone's SIM card or eSIM.
